Origin:La Vera, Extremadura, Spain. Traditionally crafted and protected under the Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) “Pimentón de la Vera.” This region is famous for its slow, wood-smoked drying process using native Spanish oak.
Main Ingredients: 100% Smoked Hot Red Peppers (Capsicum annuum, picante variety)
Craftsmanship: Harvested by hand at peak ripeness, the peppers are smoked over oak wood for up to 15 days, turned daily for even drying. Once dried, the peppers are slowly stone-ground into a fine, deep red powder. This artisanal process results in a spice with intense color, deep smokiness, and bold heat.
Allergens: (None) Naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and vegan. May be processed in facilities that handle sesame, mustard, or nuts.
Texture & Appearance: Fine, velvety powder, Vivid deep red color, Slightly oily texture due to natural capsicum oils, Smells richly of wood smoke with a hint of sweetness.
Flavor Profile: Bold and smoky with moderate to intense heat, Notes of fire-roasted pepper, oak smoke, and a slight bitterness, Lingering warmth that builds gradually on the palate. Less sweet than dulce (sweet) pimentón, but with more depth than cayenne.
